Van Osdol – Estate Planning, Probate and Trust
Estate planning is a Van Osdol tradition.
Our firm’s tradition of leadership in the estate planning field is a long and successful one. Currently, seven of our lawyers are active in the Kansas City Estate Planning Society and three Van Osdol Partners have completed terms as President of the organization.
This exceptional team of professionals has helped countless people with their estate, trust and probate needs from the simplest of wills and probate cases to multi-million dollar estates requiring the most advanced and sophisticated planning available. No estate is too small or too big for our capable attorneys.
Preserving your legacy for future generations.
Our counsel is designed to help you preserve and protect your assets for future generations without interfering with the present enjoyment of your hard-earned wealth. Our attorneys’ vast experience in the field has equipped them to provide counsel to clients, including many local trust companies, on complicated estate planning and administrative issues in addition to probate and trust litigation matters.
We pride ourselves on representing clients in the preparation of wills, trusts, charitable foundations, durable powers of attorney and many other sophisticated planning techniques. Our commitment to estate planning, coupled with Van Osdol’s extensive representation of family-owned businesses, has given us a terrific perspective on the planning process as a continuum, beginning with business formation, through growth and maintenance, to appropriate transition and exit-planning strategies.
The Van Osdol Advantage
Attorneys in our Estate Planning Group, like all Van Osdol attorneys, work as a team—applying their combined experiences, perspectives and skills to find creative solutions for our clients. Additionally, we strive to provide personal, attentive service to each of our clients.
In our Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Group, the attorneys are not only exceptional lawyers, they are leaders in their field. Bob Beachy recently completed a three year term as President of the Kansas City Estate Planning Society. Cheryl Boushka has served as a member of the Judicial Council for Kansas and has written many of its probate rules. She and her colleagues, Kent Coxe and Shawn Stogsdill, are recognized as highly regarded practitioners in the field. With more than a decade each of practice experience, Mindy Ward and Paul Himmelstein have also established themselves among the very top practitioners in the estate planning field.
Navigating probate so you don’t have to.
Sometimes even the best estate plans can’t avoid the need for probate of a will. Furthermore, relatives or others may not see a probate issue the same way you do. When this occurs, it becomes necessary to involve a Probate Court, which requires the understanding of intricate and unique probate rules and language. Our attorneys have been in virtually every Probate Court and worked with virtually every Probate Judge in the Kansas City area. We understand the rules, the language and, where possible, the shortcuts. Our familiarity with this field allows us to get you desirable results even when litigation is involved.
