The Asian-American Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City was formed in 1998 as a non-profit organization to enhance the economic opportunities for Asian-American businesses through education, networking and advocacy while promoting community engagement and visibility. The Asian-American Chamber is the largest Asian-American organization in the Greater Kansas City area, home to nearly 52,410 Asian-Americans, 4,112 Asian-American businesses with total sales over 1.4 billion dollars and payrolls totaling over $220 million dollars. Its membership ranges from well-known public corporations in the area to many small and medium sized entrepreneurial companies. Its members come from many parts of Asia including, India, China, Korea, Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan etc. and many of them are thriving entrepreneurs. This past May, our client Young Sexton, President of WingGate Travel, was named as the President of the Asian-American Chamber, succeeding another of our clients, Joe Melookaran, President & CEO of JMA Information Technology. Ms. Sexton will serve the organization in this position for the next two years. Ms. Sexton and Mr. Melookaran were both co-founders of the organization.
