St. Louis sushi shop makes the jump to KC
One of St. Louis’ favorite sushi operations, the Drunken Fish, hopes to open its new downtown location this week. The lounge and restaurant — which is shooting for a 5 p.m. opening Wednesday and a lunch opening Thursday — is in the former Bice space at the corner of 14th and Main streets in the Power & Light District. Drunken Fish owner Munsok So said the district had long courted him, but he didn’t get hooked until he saw the district for himself. “It’s such a cool and unique part of Kansas City, a hip downtown, and I wanted to bring something to add to that,” So said. “We offer a big selection, not just sushi, but in signature cocktails.” Menu items include sashimi (thinly sliced raw seafood) and sushi dishes, marinated black cod, lobster spring rolls, spiced baked mussels, sukiyaki, salads and lettuce wraps. There’s also a “St. Louis roll.” But will there be a Kansas City roll, maybe with some barbecue? “I don’t think we are … yet,” So said with a laugh. The Drunken Fish, which opened in mid-2003, has three locations in the St. Louis area.
