Here is an article I would like to share from the Kansas City Business Journal, written by Suzanna Stagemeyer and Krista Klaus about local Kansas City restaurants opening their doors for Valentine’s Day.
Love’s labor gained: Kansas City restaurants open for Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is making restaurateurs feel all warm inside, even though it means being open an extra day this week for restaurants that typically close on Mondays. “If you’re not open on Mondays, you’d be silly not to open when it’s Valentine’s,” said Kevin Lyman, president of The Kansas City Originals board and an owner of Kokopelli Mexican Cantina at 5200 W. 95th St. in Prairie Village. Already, some of the 40 local restaurants in KC Originals have corresponded asking where they can refer customers because they’re booked. Some have been full for most of the weekend through Monday since the middle of last week, Lyman said. “The whole weekend was a good run,” he said, characterizing his Valentine’s Day business as being up close to 10 percent from last year. Tasso’s Greek Restaurant, 8411 Wornall Road in Kansas City, will be open for Valentine’s Day, in spite of typically being closed on Mondays. “Every five or six years, Valentine’s Day comes on a Monday, and we stay open,” said George Sepsis, manager of Tasso’s. Tasso’s stage show, which includes a belly dancer, live guitar player and DJ, will run throughout the evening as well.
