I would like to share an article from the Kansas City Star, written by Kevin Collison, about the Kansas City Area Development Council’s ambitious goal to create 15,000 jobs in the KC area within the next five years.
Development council pushes to create 15,000 jobs in five years in KC area
The Kansas City Area Development Council, the outfit responsible for marketing our sprawling region to the nation and beyond, has ambitious hopes for the next five years.
Acknowledging the area has trailed the national average to a “modest” degree when it comes to economic growth in recent years, the goal of KCADC’s new plan, “KC Rising,” is to help create 15,000 jobs with a combined payroll of $1.8 billion by 2016. As part of that ambitious plan, the agency has expanded its turf even beyond the 18-county, bistate region that has Kansas City at its center to include the university towns home to Kansas State, Emporia State and the University of Missouri. The University of Kansas already was in the KCADC area.
