Congratulations to the Rieger Hotel for a successful opening and best wishes in 2011!
According to an article from Kansas City Business Journal, written by Suzanna Stagemeyer, the hotel The Rieger, named after a hotel that opened in the 1924 Main St. building in 1915, officially opened Saturday December 18, 2010. The article also states, that the restaurant, which will serve lunch and dinner on weekdays and dinner on Saturdays, was supposed to be open for lunch on Monday, but city water main troubles prevented that, co-owner Ryan Maybee said. He still hopes to be open for dinner Monday evening and expects to get a jump-start from the holiday traffic. He also sees great opportunities for the restaurant to serve the business lunch crowd. “We’re ready to go — we need to be open,” he said, adding that the concept fills a niche in the area. The Rieger, which employs about 25, offers what Maybee describes as a rustic and wholesome menu with a French/Italian influence. The chef is Howard Hanna, also a co-owner, who has worked at various restaurants around town, most recently The River Club and Room 39. The broad menu includes steaks, seafood and pastas made in house. Lunch prices will range from $5 for items such as soup to $12 for entrees, Maybee said. Read More:
