Meet Mindy Ward
Mindy joined our firm in July 2003, bringing expertise in taxation and estate and business planning. She is recognized for providing excellent service in a timely manner while giving clients the personal attention they deserve.
Prior to joining us, she practiced with a large local firm and specialized in complex estate, business, gift and tax planning issues including the preparation of Wills and Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, S Corporations, Irrevocable Trusts, Charitable Trusts and many other sophisticated estate and business planning devices. In addition, Mindy advises clients in all types of fiduciary controversies, administers estates and trusts, and prepares federal and state individual, estate, gift, corporate and generation-skipping tax returns as well as fiduciary income tax returns for estates and trusts.
Mindy is a member of the Kansas City Estate Planning Society, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (Taxation and Probate Committees), and is admitted to both the Missouri and Kansas Bar. Mindy was the first recipient of the Estate Planning Society Award and is a past co-chair of the Greater Kansas City Leave A Legacy. She has been featured as a speaker at numerous seminars on estate planning, probate and ethics.
From 2008 to 2013, Mindy was selected as a Missouri & Kansas Rising Star and named a Super Lawyer from 2014 to 2016, an outstanding achievement as only 2.5% of attorneys are selected each year. Most recently, Mindy was selected as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Missouri and Kansas and made the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Kansas City list in 2015 and again in 2016. Mindy is also rated as an AV Preeminent Lawyer by her peers.
While attending law school at UMKC, Mindy served on the Law Review and the Urban Lawyer and graduated at the top of her class.
Mindy volunteers on several charitable boards including as Chairman of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Donald H. Chisholm Planned Giving Council and as past-Chairman of the Ella C. Loose Heritage Society Advisory Board for the benefit of Gillis.
